Student Madrassah

At the Shan-e-Islam Madrassah, not only do we provide teachings of Quran with Tajweed, but provide a quality Islamic education also. Our aim is not only to teach our children Quran but to teach them the meaning of Islam.

The Madrassah is continuously developing new and innovative ways to provide excellent learning opportunities for the young minds, enabling them to understand and become knowledgeable as well as virtuous Muslims.

Our educated and experienced team of teachers develop stimulating and engaging lessons aimed at encouraging children’s participation, empowering them to increase their knowledge as well as build their confidence and helping them understand of our beautiful faith.

  • At Shan-e-Islam we accept children aged 5-15.
  • If you would like to apply for your child’s madrassah place before they turn 5, we will place your child onto the waiting list.
  • When your child turns 5 you will receive a phone call from the Madrassah to arrange a start date.
  • We will contact you within 1 week of submitting your application.
  • We will only be able to offer your child a place if we have availability in our classes.
  • Our qaida and Nazra classes have a maximum of 20 students, and our Hifz class has a maximum of 10 students.
  • We feel classes sizes as stated above support enhanced learning, furthermore, allow tutors to spend greater time helping students, and providing 1:1 support where necessary.
  • Quran is taught according to ability.
  • Contingent on your child’s ability, they will either be placed in Qaida, Nazra or Hifz.

Parents / guardians can report any student absences using the ‘Report Student Absence‘ form.

  • All books are provided by Shan-e-Islam.
  • The syllabus, and materials required will be discussed further on your child’s first day at madrassah.
  • All books can be purchased from the Madrassah office.
  • All students sit exams once a month.
  • The monthly exams consist of quraan recitation, Namaaz, duaas, Kalimah etc.
  • We also hold a parents evening twice a year.
  • Exam results are available to parents via the Online Madrassah System.
  • All our staff have been Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked.
  • We request an enhanced DBS check, among other preemployment checks, prior to employing new staff.
  • The madrassah remains open in Ramdhan, however the class timings may differ.
  • Parents will typically be informed of any changes to class times via text.
  • All students will remain in their own class bubble.
  • Students are asked to sanitise their hands and maintain social distancing as per government guidelines.
  • Staff members and visitors must wear a facemask on premises and remain 2 meters apart wherever possible.
  • We follow the Qur’an and Sunnah according to the understanding of the Hanafi school.
